Jordin Sparks Displays Bible Verse on Her Hand While Singing National Anthem During Monday Night Football

Emotions were running high during Jordin Sparks’ performance of the national anthem as part of Monday Night Football.

Ahead of her singing, the entire Dallas Cowboys team took a knee, while players of the Arizona Cardinals locked arms with members of the military.

More and more players have been kneeling in protest during the national anthem following President Donald Trump’s recent remarks that any athletes that take a knee during the song should be “fired.”

While Sparks did not take a knee, she did have a more subtle response to the recent protests. On the back of her right hand, the 27-year-old singer had written Proverbs 31:8-9.

The Bible verses reads: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Other performers of the national anthem during Sunday’s NFL games had more outward displays of protest. Rico LaVelle kneeled at the end of his performance in Detroit, as did Meghan Linsey after she sang the anthem in Nashville.

In addition to numerous athletes taking issue with Trump, his name was also brought up during Stephen Colbert’s musical monologue at the 2017 Emmy Awards.

TLC Postpones European Leg of World Tour After T-Boz Injures Her Neck

TLC are the latest musicians to postpone their tour.

On Tuesday, the R&B girl group announced that they would be rescheduling their European concerts due to an injury that Tionne “T Boz” Watkins sustained while performing numerous shows in the U.S. TLC was to begin the European leg of their tour on Oct. 16 in Hamburg, Germany, and end on Nov. 16 in Birmingham, UK.

“After performing in front of over 200,000 fans in N. America on a very successful run of dates in the US this summer, T-Boz injured her neck and is suffering from severe physical pain that has impacted her ability to perform at this time,” read a statement on TLC’s Facebook page. “She is currently working with her orthopedic surgeon who recommended the postponement.”

T-Boz and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas then thanked their loyal fans and apologized for having to pull out of their concerts. “Chilli and I are very disappointed that we have been left with no choice but to postpone our debut European tour,” T-Boz, 47, said. “We would like to thank our fans for staying so loyal and ensure them we will be back just as soon as we can reschedule.”

According to the statement, the tour is working on rescheduling the tour dates, but fans are encouraged to return their tickets to point of purchase for a full refund.

T-Boz’s neck injury comes on the heels of the release of her book, A Sick Life: TLC ‘n Me: Stories from On and Off the Stage, where she talks about her multiple health struggles, including her battle with sickle cell disease, falling into a coma following the birth of her daughter and her “miracle” recovery from a terrifying brain tumor.

In a recent exclusive interview with ET’s Kevin Frazier, the singer said that she was feeling more like herself as of late. “I’m dancing, turning and spinning — things I thought I would never be able to do again [and] that they said I may never do again,” she noted. “It’s a blessing and a miracle, but I worked hard to be where I’m at today.”

Jennifer Lopez's 'Jenny From the Block' Turns 15 — Look Back at the Iconic Video!

Happy anniversary, Jennifer Lopez!

J.Lo’s hit “Jenny From the Block,” turns 15 today and, don’t worry, we are no longer fooled by the rocks that she’s got.

The now-iconic earworm was the first single off Lopez’s third studio album, This Is Me… Then, and was all about how fame and fortune couldn’t change her or take her away from her roots, the South Bronx.

The megahit reached No. 3 on Billlboard’s Hot 100 chart and featured a ton of sampling, using pieces from (very appropriately) Boogie Down Productions’ “South Bronx,” as well as 20th Century Steel Band’s “Heaven and Hell Is on Earth” and The Beatnuts’ “Watch Out Now.”

Most importantly, the “Jenny From the Block” music video featured Lopez’s then-boyfriend, Ben Affleck, who, in 2008, admitted that starring in it was a terrible idea that nearly ruined his career.

“If I have a big regret, it was doing the music video,” he said in an interview. “But that happened years ago. I’ve moved on.”

Aah, failed true love.

The video was filmed around Los Angeles in October 2002, nearly a month after the song’s release, and debuted on MTV’s TRL on Nov. 5. Affleck also proposed to Lopez in November, though they famously broke off their engagement in 2014.

Wondering why the actor-director would have such kind words about his appearance in the clip? Let’s rewatch the sexy video, which includes paparazzi-esque shots of the actor-producer rubbing his gifrlfriend’s butt on a yacht and J.Lo strutting her stuff in a fur coat and little else:

While the 48-year-old singer hasn’t paid tribute to her classic dance tune on social media yet, she did post this Instagram pic of herself “soaking up the peace and serenity of the sun” in New York City on Monday, which we think is a pretty decent tribute to the Big Apple in itself.

Fergie Dishes on Her Famous Exes, Taylor Swift Song Comparisons and 'American Idol'

Fergie uncensored!

On Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the Double Dutchess singer opened up about everyone from her famous exes to the Kardashian-Jenner women to Taylor Swift.

It was Fergie’s first time in the clubhouse with Cohen and she, of course, had to play “Plead the Fifth.”

The 42-year-old was asked about the “best and worst part of dating Justin Timberlake,” of which she replied, “It wasn’t all that serious.” She then passed on further answering the question.

When asked about her favorite project that her estranged husband, Josh Duhamel, has worked on, Fergie revealed that it wasn’t a movie or TV show but rather the jokes he makes on a text chain with his buddies.

Fergie also reacted to fans who believe that the chorus in Taylor Swift’s new song, “Look What You Made Me Do,” sounds strikingly similar to the Black Eyed Peas’ 2005 hit, “My Humps.”

The former Black Eyed Peas front woman didn’t seem affected by the song comparisons and noted that her new track, “Just Like You,” also has similarities to “LWYMMD.”

She even pitched that she and Swift do a “three-way mashup” with their songs.

Up next, Fergie addressed reports that she was approached to judge on the new American Idol. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said coyly with a grin on her face. “I don’t know.”

The questions didn’t stop there! Fergie also revealed what it was like working with Kim Kardashian West on her music video, “M.I.L.F.,” and Kendall Jenner on her music video for “Enchante.”

“I wasn’t on set with Kendall. We FaceTimed and I wanted her to do her thing,” she confessed. “She rocked it. …She was like a little Parisian girl. She did amazing.”

“Kim, I had more fun with on set, because we were on set, to be literal,” she continued.

Fergie spoke to ET last week about how Jenner came to star in her music video. “We had this kind of random moment at Coachella, we ended up in this car … going to this party,” she recalled. “We’re just in this car and we’re playing music and the sun was going down …I remember filming, she was lip-syncing to a song and I remember thinking, ‘Wow, she has like an inner pop star inside of her.'”

As for Jenner’s role in the music video, Fergie added, “I just wanted her to do her and she did. She did, she rocked it out.”

Miley Cyrus Says She's 'Less Impressed' With 'Wrecking Ball' Now: 'I'm in a Deeper Songwriting Place'

Miley Cyrus feels Younger Now, and a little bit more skilled, too.

The 24-year-old singer opened up in a new interview about the impact 2013’s “Wrecking Ball” — the most literal “smash” hit of all time, and her biggest song to date — had on her career, admitting that she feels less connection to it now.

“Lyrically, I’m less impressed with that song right now,” Miley tells NME. “I feel like it doesn’t reflect who I am now, but that’s fine because it’s not supposed to.”

“I’m sure I’ll say the same thing about this record at some point,” she added, noting that her disconnect from the song is more likely due to her progression as an artist than a lack of respect for what she did before.

“I should be grateful every f**ing day for that song, and I am,” she explained. “I think people look at things that they’ve done and there is this sense of shame, or ‘I wish I wouldn’t have done that’ — not because I’m naked, by the way. It’s because I feel like I’m in a deeper songwriting place.”

Well, as Miley says herself in “Younger Now,” “change is a thing you can count on.”

But even though she’s not regretful of “Wrecking Ball,” Miley did hint this past May that she can’t quite say the same about the single’s elaborate, nude-swinging video…

“”It’s kinda crazy that I’ll always be known for licking a sledge hammer,” she laughed on Long Island’s Cooper Lawrence morning show.

Justin Timberlake in Final Negotiations to Perform at Super Bowl

Justin Timberlake may finally be ready for some football!

A recent report suggests that the 36-year-old singer is in final talks to headline the Super Bowl LII halftime show next year, but the National Football League tells ET that nothing has been confirmed as of late.

“No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists,” reads a statement from the NFL. “Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”

Meanwhile, a source tells ET that Timberlake is close to finalizing a deal that would make him the halftime performer in Minneapolis on Feb. 4. Although he hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet, the source says an agreement has been made.

“This is who they’ve wanted for a long time,” the source tells ET. “He’s the guy.”

The source adds that Timberlake and his team have yet to start conceptualizing the halftime show.

ET has also reached out to Timberlake’s rep.

If the rumors are true, this would be the GRAMMY winner’s first time invited back to the event since his controversial performance with Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston, Texas.

While singing “Rock Your Body” at the end of the halftime show in 2004, Timberlake pulled part of Jackson’s costume off, revealing her pierced nipple. After the shocking incident, the Federal Communications Commission instilled a five-second broadcast delay during live performances.

In 2011, the pop star made mention of the Super Bowl shocker in FreeSol’s song, “Role Model.” In the music video, a girl pulls up her football jersey as Timberlake sing-speaks, “Oops, did I take it too far? Super Bowl.”

Last month, ET spoke with 37-year-old former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo about the possibility of his pal performing at the upcoming halftime show.

“Oh, I love Justin, I think he’s a great guy,” Romo gushed. “I think if they got Justin, it would be a home run. I think he’s one of the rare guys that everyone thinks is great and he’s super talented.”

50 Cent Claims Donald Trump Offered Him $500,000 for Campaign Appearance

According to 50 Cent, the Trump campaign was willing to pay big money to court the “African American vote.”

The “In Da Club” rapper went on NYC’s Hot 97 on Tuesday to promote his new BET sketch comedy series, 50 Central, and claimed that while Donald Trump was running for president, 50 was offered $500,000 to make an appearance for the campaign.

“Before he got elected, they were having issues with the African American vote. They wanted to pay me $500,000 as part of the campaign to just make an appearance,” 50 claimed to the radio hosts.  “I’m not gonna do that. That’s not worth it.”

Mariah Carey Is 'Horrified' to Hear of Vegas Shooting After Her Interview Is Cut Short to Report the News

Mariah Carey was live via satellite on Good Morning Britain just moments after news broke of a fatal shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

The 47-year-old singer — who has a residency at Vegas’ Caesars Palace — was promoting her Christmas concerts in Paris and London from her home in Beverly Hills, California, when host Piers Morgan advised that they “take a break” from the interview to sort out how to go forward with reporting on the attack at Mandalay Bay Resort and Hotel during Jason Aldean’s performance.

Upon chatting with Morgan and his co-host, Susanna Reid, Carey offered up her condolences. “I pray for the victims and hope all these can stop as soon as possible,” she said. “You know, I have spent a lot of time in Vegas and this type of thing anywhere happening anywhere is a huge tragedy.”

She added, “It’s terrible because people just going out to listen to music, really they’re out for the night and something like this happens, it’s shocking.”

Carey also sent out a heartfelt tweet after her brief interview on Good Morning Britain. “Horrified to hear about the shooting in #LasVegas,” she wrote. “My thoughts are with the victims and their families. Praying for everyone’s safe.”

Morgan also took to Twitter to respond to a tweet that called him “unprofessional” for asking Carey about the attacks during her interview.

“We told Mariah’s people before the interview,” he wrote. “Her reaction seemed very relevant given she’s a performer who often has residence in Vegas.”

Over 50 people were killed when one gunman opened fire at the music festival during Aldean’s closing song.

“Tonight has been beyond horrific,” the country singer posted to Instagram following the attack. “I still don’t know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. #heartbroken #stopthehate.”

The shooting comes just four months after 22 people were killed when a bomb went off following Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester, England.
